Both sedans offer available all-wheel drive and a turbocharged option, and neither offers a hybrid. The difference is at the top: the K5 GT makes 290 horsepower, while the Altima’s VC-Turbo tops out around 248. For the sportier drive, the K5 has the edge; both are comfortable, well-equipped daily drivers.
The K5 carries the longer warranty by a wide margin: 5-year / 60,000-mile basic and 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain, versus the Altima’s 3-year / 36,000-mile basic and 5-year / 60,000-mile powertrain. Nissan has also signaled the Altima may be phased out, so buyers who care about a model’s long-term future and support may prefer the actively updated K5.
