The 2027 Sportage carries over its three powertrains and adds a few updates worth knowing before you shop:
New front-wheel-drive trims: front-wheel drive is now available on the S and EX grades, which brings the starting price down and gives budget-minded shoppers a lower point of entry. All-wheel drive remains available if you want the extra traction.
Hybrid now built in Georgia: the Sportage Hybrid is now assembled at Kia’s Metaplant in Savannah, Georgia, so the hybrid you drive home can be a locally built Kia.
New X-Line Hybrid Technology Package: the X-Line Hybrid can be equipped with a Technology Package that adds a 360-degree Surround View Monitor and a Blind-Spot View Monitor for easier parking and lane changes.
The Sportage comes three ways, and picking the right one comes down to how you drive:
Gas: the lowest starting price and the simplest choice, now even more approachable with the new front-wheel-drive S and EX trims. A good fit if your miles are mostly local and budget is the priority.
Hybrid: the best all-around pick for commuters, with the strongest fuel economy and nothing to plug in. If you cover real highway miles, this is usually the one, and it is now built in Georgia.
Plug-in Hybrid: adds electric-only driving for short daily trips, then runs as a hybrid on longer ones. Best if you can charge at home and want to cut fuel use the most.
