These two are priced almost on top of each other, with the Telluride starting around $39,190 and the Palisade around $39,435. At that point the decision is rarely about the sticker. The redesigned Palisade grew and now seats up to nine passengers, giving it an edge if you regularly fill every seat. The Telluride seats up to eight and is available with second-row captain’s chairs for a more lounge-like middle row. Both offer adult-usable third rows and generous cargo room behind them.
This is the clearest mechanical difference. The Telluride uses a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, while the Palisade’s standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 making about 287 horsepower. Both offer a hybrid built around a 2.5-liter turbo, with the Palisade hybrid targeting 329 combined horsepower. If you prefer the smooth pull of a V6, the Palisade has it; if you want turbo torque and the newest powertrain, the Telluride delivers.
In gas form, both are rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, enough for most small campers, boats, and utility trailers. Worth noting: the Palisade hybrid steps down to 4,000 pounds, so if towing and electrification both matter, compare the specific configurations.
On paper the warranties are a wash: both carry 5-year / 60,000-mile basic and 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain coverage. The clearest difference is origin. The Telluride is assembled in West Point, Georgia, while the Palisade is imported from South Korea, which is a point of pride for a lot of Georgia buyers.
